Derek Toomey (1989) is a communication consultant for Hewitt Associates, a global HR consulting firm. Derek is based in Atlanta, Ga., where he's called home for six years. After graduating from Tech he landed his first job as a TV reporter and anchor in his hometown of Alexandria, La. He made career stops at television stations in Lafayette, La.; Birmingham, Ala.; and eventually Atlanta, Ga., before entering public relations in 2002. Derek's passion is songwriting. Mary is director of public relations and communications for AchieveGlobal, an international training company based in Tampa.

Col. Joe Wallace (1975) is chief of the Plans and Programs Division of the Air Force Reserve Command's 10th Air Force Headquarters at Naval Air Station, Joint Reserve Base, Fort Worth, Texas. He is a command pilot with more than 2,500 flying hours and has served as an A-10 instructor, evaluator and forward air controller pilot. Paula Warren-Peace (1983) is a Ph.D. candidate in Counseling at Mississippi State University. She and her husband, Brian (University of South Alabama, 1997; M.A. Tech, 2001) live in Starkville, Miss. Paula recently completed a fellowship at the Mississippi State University Rehabilitation Research and Training Center on Blindness and Low Vision. She received the 2004 Mississippi State University Graduate Woman of the Year award. She has been published in peer reviewed journals and received the 2003 Mississippi State University College of Education Graduate Student Research Award, and the 2005 and 2003 American Counseling Association (American Rehabilitation Counseling Association Division) Doctoral Research Award. She was honored with the 2006 Rehabilitation Association of Mississippi Personal Achievement Award and the 2003 Graduate Student Award for academic achievement and leadership by the MSU Faculty and Professional Women's Association. Watson earned a master's degree in education with a distance learning emphasis from Texas A&M in 1999. Prior to forming Premier Enterprises, she was director of communications for the Texas A&M University System, which comprises nine universities, eight state agencies and a medical school. Jimmy Watson (1975) is a sports reporter for The (Shreveport) Times. Additionally, he owns and operates Joyner's Pest Control, the oldest in town and started by his wife's father, and he owns Watson Painting & Home Repairs. He is married to the former Emilane Joyner (a 1977 Tech graduate) and has three children: Tara, 27; Jared, 24; and Alanea, 18. They live in Shreveport, La. He garnered multiple awards in the 2006 Louisiana Sports Writers Association writing contest, including honorable mention for coverage of a college event and for a professional feature, first place for amateur sports coverage, and third place in the feature/column division. Jamie is the editoral/layout coordinator for Card Player Magazine, a poker authority magazine, which is published biweekly by Card Player Media. Dr. Wayne Willis (1976) is a professor of education and chair of the department of professional programs in education at Morehead State University in Morehead, Ky. After graduating from Tech he earned a master's degree from Wheaton College and a doctorate from the University of Oklahoma. He lives in Morehead.
