The Associated Press seeks an Assistant Chief of Bureau for its Dallas
operation.
This ACOB works as part of a team of managers in Dallas, Houston and
Austin to help direct news, marketing, human resources and other
administrative and supervisory functions. This person prepares for future
leadership opportunities in other Associated Press locations, including
chief of bureau. The ACOB assumes control of state operations in the
absence of the bureau chief.
The Assistant Chief sets the tone for aggressive news coverage and
significant enterprise by the 47-member Texas staff. Working with news
editors in Dallas and Houston, the ACOB helps to shepherd major news
projects to completion. This manager encourages and pursues opportunities
for multimedia convergence in news coverage. This person helps draft and
monitor statewide news goals.
This person assists the chief of bureau in marketing AP services and in
fostering and maintaining strong levels of support and cooperation among
AP members in Texas, including more than 90 daily newspapers and more than
200 radio and television stations. This person must become familiar with
AP products and services and be prepared to discuss them with members and
prospects in a sales context. Regular travel is expected and required.
The ACOB helps in planning of state meetings and in communicating AP
initiatives to members through a state Web site, periodic newsletter and
verbal, written and in-person contacts.
The ACOB has primary responsibility for personnel, including appraisals,
training and discipline. This person takes the lead in identifying a
diverse field of strong candidates for AP employment and in interviewing
and hiring new staffers. Handles review of staff time records, expense
accounts and vendor bills.
Applicants should have a minimum of 3-5 years of supervisory experience in
the industry. Marketing experience and/or fluency in Spanish is a plus.

We are looking for a dynamic individual to be the full-time editor of our
blog about San Francisco, SFist.com. The job requires a highly motivated
and curious individual who loves San Francisco and is interested in
writing about it for a large and growing audience. This is a great
opportunity for someone to get immediate experience and exposure in a
truly instantaneous form of media.
The editor will be expected to write a number of posts per day, as well as
manage a group of contributors to maintain an daily editorial schedule.

occur.
We are looking for a college graduate who is very Internet savvy. Being

We'll travel to the redwoods and Oregon's high desert to learn about

Position description:
NW Documentary is currently seeking instructors to participate in our new
Documentary Explorers Camp that will be launched in collaboration with the
Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) this summer. During the camp
students ages 12-14 will be taken through the filmmaking process--
planning, researching, shooting, and editing as they learn about the
natural world around them. NW Documentary instructors and OMSI staff will
collaborate with students to produce short educational documentaries on
topics relevant to the natural history and ecology of Oregon.
Requirements:
NW Documentary is seeking instructors that have experience teaching
documentary film making techniques and are familiar with digital video and
digital editing. Instructors must be available during the two scheduled
camp sessions: June 24th-July 5th and July 22nd-July 27th.
