Government Information on the Internet Health CDC Wonder (Centers for Disease Control) The federal government's Centers for Disease Control can be a key source for information for any number of health-related topics -- especially in crisis situations such as epidemics. The first link takes you to the site's main page. The second goes to a search engine for the site. Healthfinder Healthfinder comes from the National Health Information Center, which is a part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Its sections include a Health Library and information about health care and health information from various sites that deal with health. National Center for Health Statistics If you need health-related statistics, this site can be a treasure trove. You'll find all sorts of health-related statistical information here. Office of the Surgeon General This site provides access to press releases, publications and other material from the chief medical official of the United States. National Library of Medicine This site, maintained by the National Library of Medicine and billed as "the world's largest medical library," provides links to several search engines and a number of databases. Science.gov A part of FirstGov, this site calls itself a "gateway to authoritative selected science information provided by U.S. Government agencies, including research and development results." It is said to include more than 47 million pages! A search box appears near the top with a directory structure underneath. Clicking on the Go button beside the search box takes you to the site's main search page, on which you can select up to 10 resources for your search.
