News Aggregators Imagine having an assistant to go on the Web at any time to check numerous news sites for the latest news items. Don't worry about not being able to pay such a salary; Web sites called news aggregators will do that for you. An aggregator regularly checks many Web sites and pulls recent items onto its page. You can go to the aggregator's page to find the latest headlines for news in general and, in many cases, headlines in specialized categories as well. The headlines will be linked to the news sites, allowing you to click on a headline and read the full story on the original site. At any time you can go to the aggregator's page and find the latest news. Google News I have listed Google News here as well as
in the searches section because it fits both categories. When you go
to the address above, you'll find the latest news headlines in a
number of categories in addition to the search feature. Near the top
you'll find posted the number of minutes since the last update. News Hub Nine categories of news appear on the main page here. Tabs at the top let you go to eight more areas of specialized headlines. The window's title bar promises "Headline News Every 15 Minutes," and a line near the top shows the time of the latest update. Headlines also are accompanied by the time they were posted. NewsTrove NewsTrove lets you choose the range of viewpoints in the hits resulting from your searches. Below the search box are radio buttons that offer choices such as "conservative," "liberal" and "mainstream media" in addition to several religious orientations and other categories. It's an interesting approach. |
