Health and Medicine American Medical Association The American Medical Association is one of the major health organizations in the world. This site provides access to publications, journal articles, news items and other information from the AMA. Some features are available only to AMA members, but other aspects of the site are open to the public. HealthAtoZ Here you'll find a doorway to countless Web resources related to health and medicine. Besides providing a search engine, the folks here offer a directory with more than two dozen top-level categories. HealthSquare: Prescription Drug Reference This alphabetically organized directory provides "comprehensive information about more than 1,000 prescription medications, including side effects and possible food and drug interactions." Martindale's Virtual Medical Center Although the focus here appears to be on medicine, the site is actually a rather eclectic one, and it seems to scroll on forever. Mayo Clinic This site comes from one of the most respected names in medicine. Features include a search engine, an alphabetical index of articles and links to information centers on many health-related topics. Merck Manual The Merck Manual has been a standard reference source for medical professionals. This site says it provides information in "easy-to-understand English." WebMD One of the best-known Web sites related to health and medicine, WebMD provides information about illnesses, lifestyles and other health-related topics. It even has its own message boards that let people share concerns and thoughts about medical conditions. World Health Organization This site can give you information about diseases and other health concerns around the world. Press releases, news items and reports of outbreaks of disease are among its features. |
