to begin Monday, end Oct. 31
Advising for the 2003-04 winter quarter will begin Monday and will continue until Oct. 31.
Available course sections are listed in the racing form, available in Keeny Hall, outside Room 207. A printable copy of the advising form is available on the B.O.S.S. home page or forms may be picked up in the dean's office of each department.
Advising information can also be found in the racing form. Two copies of the advising form will be needed to register. Students should make an appointment to see their advisers before registering. For more information, contact Bob Vento, university registrar, at 257-2176.
Organization to hold prayer vigil for domestic abuse victims
The Domestic Abuse Resistance Team will hold a candlelight prayer vigil in honor of Domestic Violence Month at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Ruston Civic Center.
The Ruston Civic Center is located at 401 N. Trenton St.
D.A.R.T is an organization that counsels battered and abused women and children.
The ceremony is a memorial to remember victims slain during domestic violence disputes. Red silhouettes of ribbon will be hung around the center in memory of all women and children in Lincoln Parish who were killed due to domestic violence.
Victims of domestic abuse and family members of victims will speak at the memorial service.

Yearbook to offer photograph retakes in Student Center
Yearbook photo retakes will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today and tomorrow in the Student Center, Main Floor.
Portraits Plus and the Lagniappe staff will give students of all majors and classifications a second opportunity for individual photos.
Photo packages are available for purchase for all pictures, and cap and gown packages will also be available for seniors.

Union Board to show movie starring Eminem on Tuesday
"8 Mile," starring rapper Eminem, will be the Union Board movie this week.
It will be shown at 7 p.m. Tuesday on the plasma screen televisions in Tolliver Hall.
The movie tells the story of a young white rapper, played by Eminem, from Detroit. The rapper channels his rage into angry lyrics and hit songs, which provides a way out of his tough hometown and gives him a shot at fame.
Kim Basinger co-stars as the rapper's mom and Brittany Murphy plays his girlfriend.

Center to hold decision-making workshop Tuesday, Wednesday
The Counseling Center will hold a Career Decision-Making Workshop from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday in Keeny Hall, Room 310.
The workshop is an opportunity for self-assessment in the areas of skills and abilities, work interest, temperament and work-related values. Students will also be assisted in compiling lists of professional job options.

Student Health Center sponsors ninth annual Wellness Fair
The Student Health Center will hold its ninth annual Wellness Fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. tomorrow in the Student Center, Main Floor.
There will be blood pressure checks, body fat evaluations, hearing and speech screenings, spirograms, vision screenings, massage therapy and fitness assessments available free of charge.
Other services such as comprehensive metabolic panel, CBC, TSH and lipid panel will be offered by Lincoln General Hospital at discount rates.
Information on health-related issues will also be given out at the fair.
Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to attend.

Alumnus to receive lifetime achievement award at brunch
Charles Farrar, a 1959 Tech graduate with a degree in accounting, will receive the 2003 Delta Sigma Pi Lifetime Achievement Award at a brunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 8 in the Student Center, Rooms 223 and 224.
Delta Sigma Pi is an international fraternity for men and women pursuing careers in business.
Farrar held various positions in the fraternity, including executive director and assistant executive director, from his induction in 1957 until 1974.
The brunch is open to anyone interested in attending. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased until Oct. 29 by contacting Kate Flick, membership services coordinator for Delta Sigma Pi, at (513)523-1709.
Tickets will not be available the day of the event.
Debate team to compete in tournament at ULM tomorrow
The debate team will compete from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. tomorrow and Saturday in the R.J. Bicker Speech and Debate Tournament. The tournament will be held in Brown Hall at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, located at 700 University Avenue.
Admission is free to the tournament and the public is welcome to attend.
